I know it wasn’t the main point of your article but I feel like touching on the point of colour blindness.
The progressive rejection of “I don’t see race". actually has a lot to do with legitimising right wing white identitarianism. If you stop trying to fight for equality and equal treatment of everyone as human beings you open a real nasty can of worms. You see, if you say that it is not actually true that all people regardless of race are fundamentally the same, and start saying that as a racial group certain people need to be treated differently, have different standards applied to them, etc, then you are implicitly condoning white nationalists attempts to advocate for the unique challenges and dangers that face white people as a group.
